Agentic business experiments
Welcome to the new Lumos Business website. I rebuilt the website for the 'agentic web' and am documenting related research in the Notebook.
The original context for this blog - dating back to 2010 - is business model research, creation, and validation. An archive of those posts is listed in Analyses, and the occasional new business model post will be published there.
The new site is not dedicated to a fixed model, it is itself an experiment in agentic business; either a human or agent can get the low down via the agents.md file.
From the notebook
Meta's Muse - Has the Demand Side Arrived to Agentic Commerce?
Muse is the first demand-side catalyst for agentic commerce at mass-market speed — and whatever happens to Muse itself, the winners are the merchants with legible storefronts and structured catalogs.
A Startup Financial Model for the AI Inference Era
An AI startup's financial model needs one new sheet and one old discipline: the AI cost stack as brackets, and spend gated by Customer Development evidence gathered from real customers.
The HSN Reboot - A New Live Shopping Golden Era?
Live shopping is rebuilding HSN's four pillars on the web — host, distribution, buyer relationship, trust — and the winner will be whoever solves margin against distribution for the brands that don't need a discount.
Claude Commerce Agents, Measured (CPCT)
Claude Commerce Agents were recently launched with a blueprint and claims of larger cart sizes and better conversion. Digging into the blueprint and measuring the results via CPCT reveals unique insights into the agent's performance and potential cost to rollout. The expensive part was never the model.
The CPCT Analysis
CPCT (Cost Per Completed Task) is our method for measuring what agentic workflows actually cost — this engagement points it at yours.
